GEOMINLAB is a privately owned Argentine laboratory with the capacity to provide comprehensive geochemical and metallurgical analyses and testing in accordance with international quality standards. It was established to strengthen the analytical infrastructure available to the mining industry across the region.
Its approach allows each assignment to be tailored to the type of material, the purpose of the study, and the stage of the project. Located at the Pocito Industrial Park, GEOMINLAB will become the first privately owned Argentine integrated geochemical and metallurgical laboratory in San Juan.
The laboratory’s infrastructure, equipment, processes, and technical team are currently moving forward in a coordinated manner toward the start of operations.
A project rooted in San Juan
GEOMINLAB is located at the Pocito Industrial Park, within one of Argentina’s leading mining regions.
Its establishment seeks to strengthen the availability of technical capabilities in the region, connect the project with San Juan’s productive, professional, and mining ecosystem, and create new jobs.
As the laboratory moves through its commissioning stage, we will share information about its opening, processes, team, capabilities, and upcoming milestones.
An integrated approach for mining
GEOMINLAB’s main differentiator is the integration of geochemistry and metallurgy within a single laboratory, together with the implementation of a LIMS that ensures the traceability of every sample throughout the entire process, from receipt through to the issuance of the final report.
GEOMINLAB will have a 700 m² facility, state-of-the-art equipment, and the capacity to process more than 15,000 samples per month. It will also incorporate LIMS technology to ensure the digital traceability of samples throughout the entire process.
The laboratory is currently implementing ISO 9001:2015 and working toward implementation and accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025:2017, with the aim of operating in accordance with international standards for quality and technical competence.
Connected capabilities within a single laboratory
In a mining project, sample analysis may require several processes to obtain relevant information. Sample preparation, geochemical characterization, and metallurgical evaluation address different but complementary questions.
GEOMINLAB brings these capabilities together to facilitate coordination between technical areas and define each service according to the characteristics of the sample.
This integrated approach supports requirements associated with the exploration, development, and operation of mining projects.
Each assignment begins with a technical assessment to determine the appropriate methods, tests, and quality controls for the stated objective.
Geochemistry and metallurgy working together
Geochemical analyses characterize the composition of a sample and identify the elements present according to the selected method.
Metallurgical testing examines how a material responds under specific conditions and processes based on the objective of each study.
The integration of both areas helps provide an understanding not only of what a sample contains, but also of how it may behave within a defined process.
GEOMINLAB plans to apply these capabilities to the study of lithium, copper, and other materials associated with the mining industry.
